We had a very Special Day at Christ's Hospital on Saturday 17th September 2022
CH Lodge Members, their friends and families (Masonic and Non-Masonic) had a splendid day out at the School. Similar days had been planned in 2020 and 2021, but COVID-19 put paid to those.
After a welcome by the Headmaster, Mr. Simon Reid, there was an opportunity to visit the School Museum (there is a CH Lodge display there as well as an area devoted to the Schools Class locomotive "Christ's Hospital", funded by a Lodge member, WBro Tony Barrett, now sadly deesaed). Alternatively for those who didn't mind confined spaces, a guided tour of the tube was provided. Then all watched the School parade into Dining Hall to the strains of the Band, before sitting down to a sumptuous lunch in the Court Room. In the afternoon there was a chance to hear a recital by school musicians, or to go to the playing fields and support CH teams. The day was topped off by tea and a large Lodge cake, when presentations were made about the Lodge's charitable initiatives, including the annual Leaver's Bursary. Miss Antonia Coleman-Harvey, a recent recipient of the Bursary, told those assembled what the bursary had meant for her. There was also a presentation on the Old Blues Brothers Present donation governorship campaign. Information on becoming a freemason (for boys and girls) was also presented.
The Lodge wishes to express its most grateful thanks to the CH Development Office, in particular to the Director of Development, Mr Hugo Middlemas, for the outstanding job they and the rest of the CH Staff did to make the day so memorable.
